Musical Genius

I’ve decided to (attempt to) maintain a list of music I’ve once claimed as being “musical genius”. If you’ve ever heard me say the phrase, you know what this list is about. Entries will be taken only from popular, modern genres. Again, this is something you already know if you’ve ever heard “musical genious” come out of my mouth in ‘just that way’.

The list will be impulsive, and will likely generate regrets and mocking. I vow only never to remove any entry for any reason.

Feats of Musical Genius

  • Hollaback Girl – Gwen Stafani
  • Finding Out That True Love Is Blind – Louis XIV
  • Mr. Roboto – Styx
  • It Hasn’t Happened Yet – William Shatner
  • Friday Night – The Darkness
  • My Humps – Black Eyed Peas
  • Open Sesame – Kool and the Gang

    Friday Night – The Darkness:

I tip my hat to the staggering brilliance exhibited by this song’s lyricist.

    Monday rowing
    Tuesday badminton
    Dancing on a Friday night
I got ping pong on Wednesday
    Needlework on Thursday
    Dancing on a Friday night
    With you, you.

    Fantastic.

[…] Well, allow me to retort. You’re a no talent ass-clown. That’s right: no no talent. No no no no talent. And for this reason, I proclaim “My Humps” by Black Eyed Peas as a work of sheer Musical Genius. […]

Here’s another one Mike (I also put this in the Black Eyed Peas post):

Kool and the Gang – Open Sesame

It’s a combination of really bad lyrics and really awesome funk. How can you go wrong with a song about a funk genie?

“I am the Genie of Sound, everybody get down. Hooah!”

“Get on your camel and ride!”

    “Alacazam! Abracadabra!”

“Climb abord my magic carpet and let us take a ride, to the oasis of our minds.”

“Feel the power and the spirit of the genie! Yeah, c’mon! Doit Toit! Uh-hooah! Up, up, and away!”

I nominate anything by the band Of Montreal, more specifically Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games.

There had to have been some higher levels of brain activity going on to give a song such a title, let alone including lyrics such as, “Let’s forget who forget what forget where.”

No wonder you are a GENIUS, you’ve got my favorite music my humps by Black Eyed Peas. Being genius is required in music? Maybe that’s not my line I have a level capacity of brain.

Favorite Music Online Blog. I’m not sure that some of them are musical genius but from my point most of them are very talented musicians.

      I’m agree.
Sometime ago I was on concert of La Scala Chamber Orchestra played Vivaldi and Piazzolla – that was amazing!
Musical Genius is someone who wrote his music long time ago but sounds modern in our days.

David Bowie hands down. His 70’s and 80’s stuff is very relevant and still sounds very current.
