Monday at the Price is Right
The short of it is: if you have tickets for the 1:15pm taping of the Price is Right on a Monday, get there before 5:30 or you probably won’t get in (see the table at the bottom of the post).
On to the long of it.
In town visiting michelle a week and a half ago was her good friend Laura whose greatest desire while in LA was to see Bob Barker at a taping of The Price is Right. Since Laura was just in town for the weekend, going to the studio on Monday was our only option. Unfortunately, Monday is the busiest day there for two reasons: all the out of towners just in LA for the weekend have to go on Monday (they don’t tape on Friday), and there are two tapings on Monday (they don’t tape on Friday). It was going to be a long day.
The previous week, Michelle had gone to the CBS studio to pick up tickets for the 1:15pm taping on February 5th. Apparently there was no line (though there was also no one at the booth for some time), and she, as a ticket picker-uper, was allowed to park in the studio lot for free.
Monday Morning (with deserved capitalization) greg and I awoke around 4:00am and were picked up by Michelle and Laura at 4:30 here in Pasadena. Without traffic, we made it to the studio, where there was already a sizable line, at about 5:10am. Laura and Greg got us a spot in line while Michelle and I drove around the block to The Grove’s parking lot (a mall lot that cost us $11 with validation).
We patronized the unenthusiastic coffee/bagel shop across from the studio (location is everything) and waited in line until, at around 6:00am, we were given tickets that held our place in line. I was number 131. At that point we were allowed to leave as long as we returned by 8:00am, so we picked up the car (the lot wasn’t yet taking money that early in the morning, so we decided to move the car while we could and save a few bucks) and drove to a nearby IHOP. We parked back at the grove and went back to the studio to wait for our priority numbers, which we got at about 8:30am. I was number 98; apparently about a third of the people in front of us were there for the later, second taping.
At 9:00am they called us back into formation and started droning on about rules (no disparaging remarks about the prizes, please), taxes (you have to pay them), the line we were sitting in (never leave it or you’re not getting into the taping), and a handful of other things that were repeated ad nauseum. Eventually, we were issued our name tags (Price is Right name tags!) and seating numbers (our fourth non-ticket). I was number 99; it’s unclear why we four were all bumped up a number.
At some point (cell phones and cameras are not allowed on the studio, so I wasn’t able to keep good track of time), they started calling a dozen people from the line up at a time to be “interviewed”. Contestants on the Price is Right are not drawn randomly. They are selected from the crowd ahead of time during this interview process. You only have a few seconds to make your mark, so be creative. We finally got interviewed at around 11:30. We then got herded into… another line! and sat down to play a few hands of UNO with our neighbors.
And then the moment arrived. We finally got into the studio a bit before 1:00pm and got seats. The place was tiny. Watching the show on TV, you get the sense that there are at least a thousand people in the audience and that “coming on down” is at least a 50 yard dash. As it turns out, there’s only about two hundred and fifty people at the taping, and most everyone is within twenty feet of the stage. The display doors (which look massive on TV) are eat-me tiny and the stage itself is about the size of a foosball table. When we first came in, I remarked that Bob Barker must be a midget. Apparently, the TV industry is just plain good at clever photography.
After being prepped by the show’s announcer, the actual taping flew by; everything was extremely fast paced: “Come on down”, bidding, win, play whatever game, cut to commercial, repeat. During “commercial breaks”, Bob would talk to the crowd and take questions. This was just about the only time we actually heard his voice. The staff there get all the audience members to ooh and ahh and scream and shout advice (”higher!”, “$1300″, “the soup!”, “My spleen just exploded”, and so on) with such volume that very little of what’s going on on stage is discernible. I now have a lot of sympathy for the contestants who keep having to ask about the previous people’s bids.
Sadly, none of us was called down. Our dreams (”one dollar, Bob”) were not fulfilled. The guy behind us did get called though, so I bet we were on TV for a second or two (unfortunately, the show aired today and I was too lazy to give anyone advance warning). Despite our lack of luck, I’m glad to have gone. Price is Right, for good or for ill, is truly a piece of Americana, and it was neat to be involved.
Anyway, that’s the boring long of it. For a less mind numbing account, see Greg’s First Post! on the subject.
Below is a table of a person’s final seat number for the 1:15pm taping vs. that person’s arrival time. Somewhere not too far past seat number 150, the people all came from pre-booked large groups which are guaranteed admission (and so don’t have to wait in line).
| Final Seat Number | Arrival Time |
|---|---|
| 1 | 11:00pm |
| 10 | 12:30am |
| 15 | 2:00am |
| 30 | 2:45am |
| 40 | 3:30am |
| 65 | 4:00am |
| 100 | 5:10am |
| 150 | 5:50am |
You should point out that although around 250 people are let in, groups of 25 or more get some sort of priority and don’t stand in the normal lines. So If there are two or three groups, 150 could easily be the largest number let in.
[This is only tangentially related to your post, but I feel obliged to submit it anyway.]
There was a mining engineering grad student who was mildly famous among my circle of friends during my sophomore year of college. Everyone called him Bob Barker, but I honestly don’t know if that was his real name or just an oddly pedestrian nickname (or maybe it was a really clever nickname earned through some extraordinary efforts of which I remain unaware).
The only remarkable thing about our Bob Barker that I knew of was the incredible volume of Silver Valley Boilermaker that he could consume. The Silver Valley Boilermaker is distinguished from other kinds by the strict requirements that it use only the cheapest Canadian whiskey, the cheapest beer available (any beer bought at a cost of more than $1 per can is a disqualifying ingredient, as is any beer that comes in a bottle [special exceptions to be made if the bottle is of the stubby kind used by such fine brands as Lucky Lager and Olympia, or if the bottled beer claims connection with 'the glass-lined tanks of Old Latrobe' AND is either very old or has spent at least twelve hours in the sun or inside a parked car]), and that a hen’s egg be cracked into the glass immediately before consumption, which must take place all in one go.
Naturally, this ability earned Bob enormous respect from the other mining engineers, but he found it to be woefully ineffectual with students of other disciplines, and particularly with females.
I went to the Price is Right my senior year, but with a group, so I didn’t have to arrive at a ridiculous hour. But everything else you said was how I remember it: the surprisingly small set, the cues to make appropriate noises, and the selection process (we all think the contestants are selected randomly). Though if you can get a big group together, I think it is almost guaranteed that at least one member of the group will get on the show. That way they get a lot of noise from the audience.
So…would you say its worth it? Was there a lot of people turned away? My main concern is I am flying out from NY, I cant get straight answers. If I get there at 6am…will I see the show? There is going to be 4 of us. We are planning on going on a Thursday. This would be my dream com true but I feel it could turn into a nightmare!
You’ll hear this about a hundred times at the studio: no one can gaurantee you will see the show. However, if this is a dream of yours, then it is totally worth it to go; you have to try. I can’t make any recommendation, since I’ve just been the one time, but if you’re that excited, go. Going and not getting in is way better than no going for it at all.
I am going this upcoming Monday, and my friend who has the tix say that we have tix for the 4:45 show. So, what time should i show up for that show? All i can find is information for other days of the week and monday morning. Also, do they allow purses? Flipflops? and cell phones (if they are off)? D
On Monday, the tickets for both shows are handed out at the same time; even if you’re slated to be in the later show, you still have to show up early in the morning together with the people for the early show.
But to address your questions: when we left the studio after the 1:15pm taping, they still had spots to fill for the 4:30pm taping. We may have gone during a slow day, though. Basically: I have no idea about when you should get there. I would imagine that 5:30am would definitely do for you, but I can’t make any promises.
Thanks to Michelle’s excellent memory…
Purses: yes you can take them, but they will be searched (and everyone goes through a metal detector).
Cell phones and cameras: they hold them for you (like a coat check) during the taping and give them back to you at the end. I left mine in the car to avoid this.
Flip flops/sandals: These are fine.
Thanks for all the great info. I have eTickets for July, 2006, and am looking forward to seeing the show. My husband could care less, so they will probably pick him. I am looking for a tee-shirt that will “stand out” from the crowd. If anyone else has more tips to offer, please share!!
Thanks again for the info on this blog!!
Allie
Hi.. I am currently in production of a documentary about people who have been on The Price Is Right. We will be filming more interviews this summer, so please contact me if you have been on the show. If you know someone else that has, please pass my email on to them. Thanks! TPIRdocumentary@aol.com
Hi,
I’m planning my trip to TPIR, and I’m gonna be leaving LA on the same day as the 1:15 taping that I hope to attend. When does the taping end, approximately? Since I need to decide what time I should fly out.
The price is right is totally worth attending once in your lifetime. My sister and I arrived at 4:30 and were number 80 on Monday, and number 40 on Tuesday. It was a day of being lined up but we met some really nice people along the way. The only thing that I didnt like is that you have to fit a diversity selection. A black, a hispanic, chipper thin blonde, or military. If you are not the above, you really have no chance. I guess that’s what makes the entertainment business what it is. A trip worth doing once in your life before Bob retires!
Thanks for all your info. It appears like it will be really helpful. I am going. I’m not sure when but I’m going. I’ve been watching Bob Barker since I was 7 and well, I’m 42. I got a voucher for tickets from CBS in 1982 when I was in college - I still have it, just wasn’t ever able to go. (I doesn’t have an expiration date on it or taping schedule/times/days but it’s good for 6 or 8 tickets - I wonder if it’s still valid) Now that Bob is retiring I feel like I’ll never be able to forgive myself if I don’t go. My husband says I’m crazy. Question, do they let children in the studio? I’d like to bring my 7 year old daughter. Also, do you know the names of any of the tour groups that pre-book the show so I can look into those options? Thanks for your great posting site. I’ll let you know what happens! I am a petite perky blonde so I’m glad to know that might help my odds!
Thanks for the details, your page was so helpful! I have tickets for this coming monday, tuesday, and wednesday, and I was just wondering what kind of questions they ask you in the interview, or if you just have to show them how loud you can yell and high you can jump?
They talk to you for just a few seconds and ask you pretty genereric questions: where you are from, what you do, and so forth.
I think they’re looking for enthusiasm and personality.
When we went in Nov there were two questions…where are you from & what do you do…you have 5 seconds to wow them. Good luck Natalie I hope you get on there and win big!
I have tickets for the show this coming up wednesday and It has been my dream my entire life to go to the show, hopefully I will be able to get the attention of the interviewers in my few seconds!
hey i’m planning on attending in march before bob retires…can anyone tell me how much each ticket costs?
I am going next week and am Soooooo excited!!
Does anyone know how people may be able to get with a large group that is attending the show the first week in March ‘07.
I heard Angela, COME ON DOWN! YOU’RE THE NEXT CONTESTANT ON THE PRICE IS RIGHT! I went to the Thurs, Jan 11 2007 taping. This was the most exciting time in my life!! If you are thinking of going, book your flight now!!!!! We arrived at 4am the first morning, and were #189-90 in line. Do not wait til the AM. Later that same night we arrived for the next day’s taping. We got there at 8:30 PM and were #37-38 in line. This also made us contestants #37 and 38 by coincidence. The number may change. Do not arrive past 9pm if you want to be in the audience. Have fun!!
I am suppose to go to a taping this week. I want to just get in to the audience for sure - a lifelong dream for me! How early are people really going? Is there a way to find out how many groups are scheduled for a given day? Would the CBS ticket office tell me that if I call? What’s the latest I could go get in line to still ensure getting in? Like 2:00 or 3:00 am or earlier? Or are people camping out all night? Also, can anyone tell me anything about the parking and the walk from the garage in the late hours up to CBS? Is it safe? And standing out there all night? Is there CBS security or anything there all night? I’m going alone, and I’m not familiar w/ the area, thus I am a little apprehensive. Any comments or tips or responses from people who have been there recently? Thanks!
Let me get this right, to gureentee getting in the audience we should line up the night before the show?
Or would that mostly be during school break times?
My Wife and i plan on going on Feb 1st for the 2:30 showing, can anyone suggest our time we should arrive to line up?
Okay i just noticed #20, wow thats a long to wait, 8:30 to wait in line, but if thats what it takes, i guess.
Wow, we are going in Febuary and had no idea we needed to sit in line all night. Are there stores/restrooms near by? Are they setup to handle people waiting all night?
I have read everyone’s questions, and mine are the same. We are flying in for 4 tapings….2 on monday, one tuesday and one wednesday…..what time should we line up? What is the MOSt important thing we need to know or do??? Thanks!
Please read #20 carefully!!! I just went on Jan 11, 2007. Don not arrive past 9 or 10 pm for the next day’s taping. Again, we arrived at 8:30pm wednesday for thursday’s taping at 2:30pm. By the time taping approached we had been up for 33 hours. For Lori #25, take your makeup with you and put it on in the restroom before the show. Get food the night before and eat snacks all night long. Take a blanket. you can rent chairs before 9pm-ish from the bagel shop across the street. Do this for sure. I am pretty sure you won’t get into both tapings Monday, only one of them. However, arrive soon enough to be in show #1 b/c everyone stands in line together for both shows. The line will grow to over 500 people. Have so much fun!!! I want to go back before June. Park at the Grove Garage. There’s some good eating adjacent. Bathroom at the gas station is on/around the corner. Don’t drink much in line. Good luck and wear a fun shirt!! Gerald, bagel shop opens at 3-3:30 am. Watch for me on Feb 20, 2007 as I will be Called On Down!!!! Yeaaaaaaaaa!
I will be going to tpir tuesday the 30th.
if I get in line at midnight can I save a spot in line for my girlfriend who would arive at 5an? how do people genneraly feel about holding a spot in line??
Me, my cousin and my two aunts are going to LA March 4-8. We have tickets for the Wed. taping… We are all very excited!!! I have taken down all your advice and I am sharing it with them…. Best of luck to you all…
went to the price is right on Tuesday what a blast I got in line at 6 pm me and my girlfriend were 10th and 11th in line It was a blast the 12 hours in line went by in a flash made great friend but i lost the email list we passed around dang …if any of you read this email me…
the show taping went by in what seemed like a second.
Bob was great.
I loved my stay.
the Guest house motel was around the corner the only room available was a smoking room and was awful we didn’t want to be in it at all witch made standing in line all night an option to my girlfriend the next night we got a no smoking room and it was very comfortable.
the bagel shop across the street was pretty awful but an interesting experience though the bagels were ok I got one bagel two cups of coffee an apple strudel that turned out to be few days old and a cinnamon twist even older I think came to over $17 the next day I went to the bagel shop around the corner on Beverly street and got two great bagels and two cups of coffee for just over $5 we got two nice chairs to sit in at a thrift store just down Fairfax street for $7 I don’t know what happened to them I thing CBS cleans up all the garbage left by the line instantly..
We went to universal studios on metro was easy and cheap but we used the internet to figure it out we would not have been able to do by reading the signs.
Defiantly eat at the Farmers market huge choice of food and very affordable and clean too I might add.
Hi, I’m not sure if anyone here could help me but i’ll try. I am looking to obtain a copy of the price is right show that aired in 2006. Do you know how i can get it or find a place to view it? If theres any way someone can help i’d greatly appreciate it.
Please e-mail me at joeblack2007@gmail.com, if you can help or have any advice.
Thanks in advance
U guys that got their at 8:30pm on wed. for thur. 2:30pm show are sooo stupid. What were u thinking? U can get there at 5:00-6am on tues. for tues 2:30pm show, and get in no problem. There are so many idiots, and unkool people at the audience it was a disgrace 2 myself that I went. 90% of the people that show up at that show are thee biggest losers/geeks/nerds the earth has 2 offer.
Thanks for the info! My SO and I are going to LA on Feb. 27 and will attempt the Feb. 28 and Mar. 1 shows. Sounds like getting in the audience will be a great adventure :-)
I met some great people while waiting in line from 6 pm to 6 am but lost the email list anyone who has that list contact me it was the January 30th show to air on march 1st

I am trying to get a group together, to avoid the dreaded “line”. Need like 20 people. We are going in May, the 29 or 30th. (tues & wed). This is Memorial week. If anyone is interested in forming a group, e-mail me. Only a few more mo’s till Bob retires!!
e-mail address is amberway00@yahoo.com for the group above!!
I will be there for the Feb 26 2:30 taping. I will
be with my parents that are in there 80’s is this a big mistake as they long dreamed of attending before they pass away (as they put it). I am 43 years old and have severe chronic back pain, can I sit in line and hold there place? Are we able to leave for the bathrooms/food etc.. and come back to our place in line. Also, did anyone see any eldery people with wheelchairs or walkers?
what happens to the camp chairs or wheelchairs that we had in line when entering the show?
Much concerned?
Nancy,
The people I was in line with where fine with people holding the line for other people qas long as they new and someone stayed in line.
I would sugest get in line with your parents and introduce them to your line mates then let them go to the room and be back befor 6 am
they give you a ticket that holds your place in line you then have a little over an hour to go to your room and get ready and take your chairs home if you leave them they disapear i think cbs comes out and cleans up the line and disposes of all the chairs.
then of course you have a day long prcess from after that.
any other questions feel free to email me

im going to the price is right in march.. ON MY BIRTHDAY! its going to be a monday, so we’ll be there bright and early.. is there anyone else going on march 5th? is it true that people have better chances of getting on if its their birthday? my dream is to give bob a kiss..
Adrienne,
I am going on March 5th too. I will be getting there bright in early. First time going. What time did you plan on arriving? I have been going by the posts here.
Adrienne - can I email you?
Do they give you a locker to put your cell phones in and personal belongings?
My daughter turns 18 on April 18th. We and our cherished family friend Debbie have tickets to TPIR. How does one get hooked up with a group so as to avoid standing in line? If anyone reads this and wants to get a group together, email me!
Joe they will take your cameras and cell phones like a hat check but they don’t want you bringing much else no back packs or other items.
Jane to get in with a group you need to get the group tickets and they require a list of names when you order the group tickets
sue -
yea, you sure can.. adv11@pitt.edu
Can we bring a bunch of stuff, chairs, blankets, radio, etc for the line the night before and then take it to our car right before they come out with priority tickets? Does that seem possible?
Thanks for the help!
gale,
yes you can in fact you can park at the bank accross the street untill morning, ( i guess u can pay and park somewhere near after morning,
Three of my friends and I from APU will be going to the March 7th taping of The Price is Right. We are reading all the responses and thinking we should be there by 6 or 8 for the 2:30 taping. Is this correct? It’s a Wednesday taping and so we were wondering if we wouldn’t have to be there that early or what? Also, I was wondering if anyone was going to that same taping.
I can be reached at mcdj88@apu.edu.
Thanks!
It is my dream to watch TPIR taping. I was there last Feb. 25th hoping to watch the Feb. 26th taping. I didn’t get in because I didn’t know that I should be in line the night before. Should I have known, I will do it. The Inn that we got was walking distance. I am coming back on April, be on line a lot earlier on Sunday to be able to watch the 1:15 Monday taping. I should have read this before. Oh well…
I will be flying again from Chicago… It is a dream that I wish to fulfill. Hope everything works out this April.
People, You need to be there the day BEFORE taping @ 6 or 8 PM!!!!! Read posting #20 and #26 carefully. This is in clear English for all who continue to have questions. Get it right……so you, too, can COME ON DOWN!!!!!
We have mailed off for the april 2-4 tapings but we have not gotten anything in the mail yet.when can we expect tickets ?we tried online but it said onlline had was allocated.
lori
Can anyone tell me what they asked you in your interview thingy? I am going this coming Wed!
I went weekend before last. The interview questions they ask you are literally “what is your name?” “where are you from?” and “what do you do?” It was very evident that it wasn’t what you answer… it was HOW you answer. FREAK OUT AND DO NOT BE SHY ABOUT IT. That is what gets you on the show.
“Chuck” is a name you will get to know well… you will be spending about 6-8 hours with him sitting on a metal bench. He will tell you the same thing… when you get your 5 second interview GO INSANE. Don’t prepare for any question they might throw at you… prepare to convince them you didn’t just spend the last 12 hours outside their studio on the sidewalk. For those going in the next couple weeks I suggest 1AM being the absolute latest you show up in line. They ARE NOT doing groups anymore so the first 325 people in line (minus maybe 10-20 VIP tickets) will make it on the show.
But how many tickets do they give out for a day - I ordered April 3rd online, so do they overbook 10%, 20%??? We are coming from a resort 2 hours away, and were thinking of getting there at midnight…. but can anyone show up in line with out an online, or mailed ticket and still get in???
Adam, are you sure they are not doing groups any longer?? I was there last month and they had several groups on the show. In fact, we almost didn’t make it into the audience because of the number of groups who came that day. Thankfully a few of the groups were either late or they didn’t show up with enough people to get “group” status (groups are 20 or more people) which means they went to the end of the line and made room for our group of 4. We got there at 4:30 am and almost didn’t get in the audience….. GET THERE EARLY if you’re not in a group.
And yes, I was called down to contestants row, had a perfect bid to get on stage, won my pricing game but lost on the wheel.
If you’re considering going to TPIR…. Do it!!! You wont regret it
I am positive they are not doing groups any longer as of March 1st. They announced it to us while we were in the “Order of Arrival” line on Tuesday, Feb 27th. As far as how much they overbook. My guess is whoever asks for the tickets to stand in line get them. Those tickets you mail in for or print off online are probably just to guage what kind of turnout they will get. They honestly probably can’t print them fast enough anymore.
Also Lisa, they can wait in line without an e-ticket or mailed ticket. If they don’t have a ticket they are going to very upset in the morning when the order of arrival passes are given out and they don’t have a ticket though. They could probably find one without looking too hard though. There are just so many people that don’t get in every day.
Adam,
You were there roughly 2 weeks after me…. Thanks for the updated info about groups. I have a few friends who would like to go there and we were considering forming a group but I guess we wont waste our time with that now.
BTW… How did you do when you were there, did you get on the show???
One more thing, You do NOT need to freak out when being interviewed by the producer to get on the show. I answered my 2 questions no differently than if someone on the street asked the same questions. However, I think he was surprised by my answers so he asked me a third question in which I also answered with an quick-witted reply. You’ll know if you are getting on the show or not if the guy sitting in the chair behind the guy asking questions gives you a double look. After the interview process and before going into the TV studio, the other people I was with were convinced I was going to be on the show because of the look the gay gave me while being interviewed…… They were right!!!!
EDIT:
In my previous post, (#58) in the last sentence I typed “the other people I was with were convinced I was going to be on the show because of the look the gay gave me while being interviewed……”
The word “gay” should have been “guy”
Sorry for the mistake….
A group of 24 of students from my university work up at 4:30 and arrived at the studio somewhat after 6:30. Only to find out… we were too late. They hand out a pink ticket at 6 am that you MUST have in order to get in.
I’d suggest just doing the all-night thing or really REALLY early, even it is for a 2:30 pm showing.
We got rejected!! Now the only way to try again is to miss a day of classes.
Thanks everyone for the information - I am going with my dad - and I think he is convinced he will get on, but I think I really have a better shot ( he is 65, conservative, wouldn’t jump up and down… whereas I am a red-head, and can be crazy - so now I feel we are in a total competition with each other!!!! He told me only one person in a group gets on, and he actually said to me, so I guess you won’t get on!! I am playing it cool - he has not seen these websites, and doesn’t have any clever lines!!!
Uhhh ok, all the people I saw get on the show did indeed freak out. I wasn’t imagining things. I think your chances are just better if you do something to stand out. I’m guessing “over-enthusiastic” is easier than “quick witted response” after, at very least, 14 hours of standing in a line.
TPIR contestant… I didn’t get on obviously but I was in the first row and one of my friends won the final showdown so I got to get up on stage at least. It was a blast, by the time I finally got in the studio I could have cared less if I got on the show or not.
Adam
I know exactly how you felt after waiting for 14 hours just to get into the audience….. by the time I got to my seat in the TV studio I was ready for a nap!!! At that point, I had been awake for 28 hours straight and now they want the audience to clap, clap, clap, yell, scream, clap and more clapping!!! Did I mention they want the audience to clap a lot? Did you hands hurt from all the clapping too?
Anyway…. After my experience on TPIR I would do a few things a little different next time but overall, I wouldn’t trade my experience for anything!!!
Definitely some good advice here!
I was at yesterday’s taping and yes, I was called to COME ON DOWN! It was one of the greatest days of my life. I won a grandfather clock, lost Spelling Bee for a car (UGH) and spun 80 cents on the wheel but was knocked out by the last person with an 85.
Here’s the basics of my story, and I hope they can helpful all you hopefuls out there to get in and maybe even get on the show …
My fiancee and I arrived at 2:15 a.m. and we ended up being nos. 205 and 206 on the OOA passes. We later talked to a woman who had been there since 5:30 p.m. the previous night and she only got no. 29! Things are nuts down there between Bob’s retirement and college spring breaks. Get there SUPER early if you are going in March or April.
We wore custom T-shirts that asked Bob to come to our wedding, but honestly, the screeners didn’t mention the shirt and neither did Bob (and I was too excited to think of mentioning it to him.) If you do the shirts, do them to get yourself in the mood to party when you’re there.
As for the group interview, try to spend a few minutes getting yourself in the right frame of mind before it’s your turn. Yes, you’ve likely been waiting at least 10 hours (if not more) and you’ve slept on the street and you’ve been waiting a couple of hours doing absolutely nothing … but they don’t want to know that. They want to see you at your best, whatever that is. If you are a person who freaks out in real life, let it fly. If you’re not, don’t. They really can sense it.
In my interview, I noticed that people weren’t really engaging the guy. He’d say your name and say hi and they were responding like they were in church. He talked to me and I boomed back, “Hey, how you doin’?” I think it got his attention. We had a cool conversation and my fiancee said he looked me up and down as I walked away.
In a five-minute span, I went from hearing my name called to playing for A NEW CAR! It was like nothing I’ve ever felt and I sincerely, deeply, truly hope that everyone who reads this gets on stage.
Even if you don’t, getting into the audience is a huge rush. I said to my fiancee as we walked in, “OK, when we were outside, I was lying when I said I didn’t care if I got on. I really wanted to, but now that we’re in here, I’d be thrilled just to sit and watch this.” And wouldn’t you know, I was called down in the opening!!!
So get some sleep the night before you go, enjoy your time in line with the people around you, and just make the best of the day. If you really love the show, all the waiting is more than worth it!
just an fyi for anyone going soon: me and my boyfriend went on monday march 5th and arrived at approx 1:30am, when we recieved our order of arrival tickets we were number 319 and 320.. mondays are really packed because of the two tapings.. if you expect to go to the 1:30 taping you better get there hella early because that one fills up way faster than the 4:30 taping.. the lady that was first in line got there at 3:30 in the afternoon the previous day.. these people arent joking around.. lol.. good luck to everyone!
Key points from our experience on Thursday, March 8:
• Showed up at 10pm the night before and were 90th in line.
•Have to use bathroom at gas station (if it’s not being cleaned). If it’s being cleaned find a dark alley. This is just one example of how CBS and the entertainment industry in general could give two hoots about people.
•Be prepared for the weather. It was cold around 3am.
•After the Order of Arrival pass was handed out and the “real process” began it was a day filled with little information and time sitting doing nothing. You can only have a conversation with people you’ve been sitting, sleeping, standing next to for so long.
•If you’re hard of hearing you will be frustrated. Even though you are on a television lot, they only use a PA system a few times. The rest of the time they are yelling instructions at you. Good luck trying to hear what they’re saying. You’re in a parking garage like area (that echos) with at least 350 other people.
•Might be a good idea to wear one of those document holder things around your neck to keep your license, social security number, and miscellaneous pieces of paper together. You need more ids than getting on an airplane! This is also a good idea since you will be completely delirious after not getting much sleep the night before and you may misplace items.
•The CBS paiges are not the most happy and chipper folks. Chuck seems to be their ringleader. Apparently he was a contestant on TPIR 2 years ago and he became a paige. There is also some new paige that wrote a song about TPIR and sings it to people. Also, don’t expect them to do you any favors like give you an extra nametag to bring home. They act like they’re doing you a favor just by being present. They’re useless.
•The “interview” with the producer is fast. They get you at the worst part of the process, just before the show after spending not only all night on the sidewalk, but hours and hours on cold metal benches. Be happy, be neighborly.
•The studio smells like old people. Before the show when the paiges are seating everyone they play dance music. There is a TPIR dance mix that was pretty funny. The audience did the wave while waiting for the show.
•Once the show starts you can’t hear anything. You’re hands will hurt from clapping. The staff are constantly wanting the audience to be louder and louder. Not easy to be so animated when you’re tired.
•The show we were a part of didn’t have the “normal” demographic. No military folks, or older people were asked to come on down. Apparently it was cutesy college girl day. Annoying.
•The backlot of the show can be seen from an upper level of the Grove’s parking garage. Many of the prizes that I had seen on previous shows were back there (boats, gazebo jacuzzis, trailers, motorcycles, cars, ect).
•The show is not ending when Bob retires. They’re test screening Mario Lopez and George Hamilton. So, unless you’re really wanting to see Bob, apparently you’ll have a chance to see the show, and you probably won’t have to spend the night on the sidewalk.
•Don’t assume a homemade tshirt will get you in. From what I remember, only 2 or three of the 9 people selected to come on down had a homemade tshirt. The rest were college tshirts or just plain clothes. If you’re wearing anything with a logo on it they’ll ask you to take it off or turn it around.
•Bottom line expect frustration and exhaustion and try to remind yourself that the whole thing is fun. If nothing else it’s a funny story to recall when you’re 90.
I am going to TPIR March 27th and I plan to get in line on the 26th at 8pm. I will do whatever it takes to get picked. Got our shirts made and I’m doing a colored pencil portrait of Bob to bring with me. So wish me luck!!!! I LOVE BOB
I am going to the march 26th 4:30pm taping. What is the latest time we need to be there to be sure we get in?
Hey I have 6 Price is Right tickets for March 21 2007 that I will not be using. Would anyone like them?
I would be willing to mail them for free…. so if anyone could use them email me and I’ll get them in the mail right away.
My email is:
2009smith@gmail.com
I sent in for tickets for april 2 and 3 and have not gotten them in the mail yet…anyone else gotten their tickets yet???I am getting very worried that we will not get them…how long before the tape date did other people get theirs???
lori
does anyone have nay extra ones for april 2 or 3…I am dying here..
actually I have a flight voucher that runs out april 17th-so I can use anyones extra tickets up until april 15…thank you fellow bob lovers!!!!!!!!!
This is from the CBS website. I read this two days ago. I have no idea how long it’s been posted. I requested for tickets for April 17th but I doubt if they will still mail my request. I sent the mail two weeks ago.
TICKETS
Due to the increased demand for tickets because of Mr. Barker’s retirement in June, there are no more March or April tickets available Online, by mail or in the Ticket Booth. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
Again, from the CBS website regarding group tickets.
Groups will not be booked during March, April, May and the first week of June due to Mr. Barker’s retirement and the large demand for general tickets. However, group bookings will resume in mid-June with the new host of “The Price Is Right” and we hope you will check with us before then for available dates and times.
to Julie # 67, I am so happy for you. Many of these other postings appear that they did not have any fun, and it was torture just waiting….I am glad you are going at 8 pm. Getting in line early is not something one should chance. You know that…(you know, I got called on down…he he) I would love to go back, but I don’t think I could top my experience there. Have a great time!!!
to lori #72. I have 2 extra tickets (via e-ticket) for the 4:30pm taping on 3/26. Can you use them?
I went to the March 5th taping. We arrived at 3:00 and we were 107th in line for the second show. There were A LOT of people turned away. I must say, we had a ball in the line. The people who come early and hang out are so much fun. We went again to the Wednesday taping and arrived at 10:00 p.m. the night before. We were 70th in line. Again, we met some WONDERFUL people and the girl next to me in line won a car, so that was very, very exciting.
I’m so glad this website is here to blog info. I’m also glad that groups can’t pre-book for the time I’m going cuz I would be one unhappy camper if I sit in line all night and don’t get in cuz of some pre-booked groups. If anybody can tell me when they give out the order of arrival pass and tell you to come back at a later time…is it better to stay and wait or do they keep you in numbered order so you can go eat breakfast or something and come back and not lose your place? email me any helpul info JulieJulzF05@aol.com
Thanks
Julie #1 BOB FAN

Julie….number 78
They give out the ooa numbers a 6:00am. Yes, you can leave to have breakfast and come back without loosing your spot in line…. (just don’t be late, chuck will tell you what time he wants you back) they DO keep you in numerical order….ALL DAY until you walk into the TV studio.
Have fun,
Expect to WIN!!
I went to TPIR this past Monday and had an absolute blast! My friend and I had been planning our trip for so long and were pretty well prepared for everything. We decided to get in line at 5:30 pm on Sunday night. By that time there were 48 people in front of us. We brought sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooler, chairs, a blanket and plenty of warm clothes. We actually ended up falling alseep for a few hours right on the street! Around 5 am we packed up our stuff and got ready to get our order of arivial pass. The people that hand out the tickets come out of the gates and hand out the tickets there. You should have all of your stuff put away because you do move in line and will have to leave your stuff behind. After you get your order of arrival pass, you have until 7:45 am to go the bathroom, eat, whatever. At 7:45 you go inside the gates but still outside of the studio. It is mass chaos as the few workers try to organize everyone back into order. Once everyone is in order, you exchange your order of arrival ticket and they write a number on your ticket that you received prior to standing in line. This is your number for the show. Because my friend and I had tickets to the afternoon showing, we were numbers 1 & 2! We then were told that we had to be back by noon. This gives you a good amount of time to eat, walk around, whatever. At 12, they ordered us back into our new line with the people in our show. THey check your ids and then write your name tag. After you have that, then they start the “interview” They take you in groups of 12 and they go down the line and ask “what do you do and where are you from” My friend got a little creative and when they asked her what she did she said “social worker, student and I play the drums” After that you go back in line outside of this security checkpoint. Finally after you go through security you go back in line on the benches. By this time, you are pretty exhausted but SO close to being inside. About 30 min. before the taping begins, you go inside the studio. Like everyone has mentioned, it is very small, and VERY cold so bring a sweatshirt. They go through some rules and get you all hyped up with music. The show goes so fast, you can’t hear anything so you shout our random prices for the contestants. It almost felt fake because it went so fast. My friend actually got called down on the last time and got up on stage. It was such an awesome experience. The people around you are so hyped up. We were trying to think of something additional to add to this blog.. basically if you are driving, bring as much stuff as you can.. sleeping bags were excellent. We brought a cooler full of food plus another bag and it was nice to snack during the night. We also had those body wipes for the morning because we didn’t have time to shower. As far as who gets called down, the people that got called down during our taping were all so different. Some hyper girls, one military guy, an older lady.. so I’m not sure there is a formula for getting on. Be friendly, try to think of something creative and that’s about it. Sorry this blog is so long but i’m so detail oriented I figure someone else is as well! Good luck!
Does anyone have any extra tickets for Monday, April 30 (either taping)??? I sent for a ticket on that day but got a letter stating that there are no more tickets being given out for April or May. I only need one ticket! Please help!!! Thanks!
I forgot to include my email for the above post. If you have an extra ticket for April 30, please let me know at crazyforcookie@gmail.com Thanks!
hi katie. i have an eticket for may 1st (tuesday). if i get to watch the april 16th taping, i will give this eticket to someone.
visit http://www.golden-road.net for all the information you need on watching TPIR. if i did this before my feb. 22 trip to L.A., i should have been able to watch the taping last feb. 26th. the april 16th taping is my second attempt.
it is a dream for me to see bob barker and watch TPIR taping live.
anyone who plans on watching the may 1st taping and does not have a ticket, email me at hpgeom@yahoo.com.
So can you not get an OOA pass thing unless you have this pre-ticket? And, if they aren’t giving out any more mar and apr tickets, can you request may or june? I would like to see Bob. The next one just won’t be the same.
deb
Becky #82
After you got your number about 7:45am and they told you to be back at noon, could you have gone back to the hotel to shower or do you have to stay on the lot or in a certain area?
Deb
Deb
You will NOT get an OOA number without a pre ticket!!! You MUST have a pre ticket or you’re wasting your time standing in line.
No pre ticket = wont get into the show. No exceptions!!
Once you get your OOA number, and Chuck tells you what time to be back, you can go anywhere you want. You do NOT need to stay on the property….. Just make sure you’re not late when returning to the show!!
Good luck!!
I went to the show on Thursday, march 22. It was an experience of a lifetime. We did not have very good seats once we were inside the studio, but it was amazing. It was worth the time that we spent outside in the cold.
Let me know if anyone has any questions.
Cindy - what time did you get in line on the 22nd?
Hello, TPIR fans, I was at the show on Feb. 12 2007, We arrived in line at 3:30 in the mornning, we took chairs, a blanket and snacks, but by that time there were plenty of other people in line that I rarley sat in my chair I was more excitted about being outside of the CBS sutdios.. That day was the most excitting day of my life…. (with the exception of having my two kids and getting married)
I was called down, won my way on stage, didn’t win the Ford Fussion I played for but did WIN THE BIG WHEEL AND THEN WENT ON TO WIN MY SHOWCASE…….travel trailer, trip, & desk.
I think i was chossen because i was almost speechless when it came time for the interview, I was around the corner form seeing BOB,,,,,,, thats when the producer started asking me questions, i started to tear up and found it extremely hard to answer his simple questions
AGAIN THAT WAS THE MOST EXCITTING THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO THIS HOUSEWIFE.
My crazyness on the show got me Natonal exposure, the day after my show aired I was featured as clip of the week on THE SOUP on the E! channel,(the week of 3/22/07-3/28/07 they called it Margie Madness)and if that weren’t enough THE ADAM CAROLLO SHOW on the radio played a sound bite of my winning.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL THOSE WHO DREAM OF THIER DAY AT THE GREAT PRICE IS RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
try to make a trip to the farmers market (right next to the sudios)……great choice of foods
Congrats Margie!!
I saw your clip of the week on E! I was also on TV last week too. I didn’t win the showcase like you but I did win my way on stage and won my game.
hello anonymous TPIR contestant,
were you the guy with “I came for the money in BOBs pocket” shirt on????
if so I thought it totally amazing that you did get the perfect bid for the $500 wearing that paticular shirt…what a coinkydink
if that wasn’t you …….still congrats on your win. It truley is A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE……….margie
Nope, not me. I wish it was though!
We got there at 1:00 am and camped out all night. We were #160 in line. We all got in, because there were no groups there that day.
Hope this helps. Good Luck and have fun!
Lori I might have 2 extras tickets for April 2nd- what’s your email address
hey that sounds awesome .it is amaxwell1234@charter.net.I would really like to go
ok my e mail is amaxwell1234@charter.net
at 10pm central dst, eticket request for april 23-26 is open at cbs.com
today is march 27.
I can’t believe we’re going across the country to see Bob!! We leave on Sunday from VA for a Monday taping. We also have tickets for Tuesday in case we don’t get in. I’m so excited!! I have a bad neck that hates being cold and sleeping in funky positions. (What fun!!)
Jackie,
I don’t think you need to worry about sleeping in a funky position… With all the excitement of being on the show and waiting in line with hundreds of other people waiting for the same thing…. to lay down and try to sleep is a very hard thing to do.
Good luck and have fun!!
Anyone going to the April 4th or 5th show? My friend & I are going. If anyone else is going, please e-mail me at j_boddorf@hotmail.com. It would be great to talk to others who are going this day.
For everyone that has already went, my friend & I are staying at a hotel that is by the airport, so we’ll be bringing a bag w/ us. Other than putting our bag in someone’s car that we meet, do we have any other options?
Also, we’re going to Wednesday and Thursday tapings, April 4th & 5th & plan to get in line by 2 AM at the latest the 4th & by 1:30 AM at the latest on the 5th. We’d like to get in line earlier, but this is the best times we can do w/ our travel arrangements. Do you guys think these times will be ok. Spring breaks are over, so I’m hoping we’ll be ok.
Jen (post# 102)
I would say you should be OK to get in line at 2:00am but not any later. You’ll have a better feel for it after your first night in line and can adjust your time for the second night if the first night doesn’t work out for you.
Good luck!!!!
Margie, you were amazing on The Price Is Right! I wish I met you that morning in line, but I wasn’t working Price Is Right that day. I meet a lot of people at the show, and you probably were very excited that day! You should check out my You Tube video “The Price Is Right With Lyrics By Me,” because you missed out on them when you were in line!
Anyone know about bags…what if you have a bag & can’t find anywhere to put it during the show? I’m hoping to find someone in line that will let me put it in their car.
Hey, Everyone!
My husband and I just had a fantastic time at the March 26th taping!! For those with questions, look at Becky’s posting (#82). She listed exactly what happens, and there isn’t much more to add. As far as where to place your belongings, if you’ve rented a car I’d suggest going back to it to place all your items in the trunk. That’s what we did. In fact, my husband went back around 5:00 a.m. so we wouldn’t have to deal with it after receiving the OOA tickets.
Here’s my question: I’m itching to go again, and I’m wanting to know if anyone has two extra tickets out there for the May 31st taping? I will submit my info. to CBS, but I have a feeling I’ll receive the letter that someone else mentioned about “no more tickets.” We were not called down to be contestants in March, and this date in May is my birthday; what better way to spend it than to travel the country again to try to meet Bob?! I would be so thrilled to do so, and I’m willing to spend the money again to attempt it. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it!!
I sent away last week for tickets to the price is right in May, thinking that would be enough time to get them! From what I am reading, I may not be getting any tickets because of the high request. My flight is already booked out to California from New Jersey and I will be devastated if I don’t get into a taping.
Does anyone have extra Price is Right Tickets for that week, May 26th through June 3rd. I would be forever grateful. This is my dream since I was a little girl and I finally am going to California!
If anyone one has information that could help me or even better - extra tickets, my email is radiokat7181@hotmail.com
Thank you so much!
Kathryn
Hi Price is Right fans! This blog was an awesome asset to preparing for the show! Thanks everyone. We just got back from the March 27th taping. It was a blast! I just wanted to add a few observations. They do have groups…military groups. They don’t seem to consider them groups if you ask, but they were there both taping days. It is difficult to say exactly when you have to get in line. One day people that show up at 5AM don’t get in….the next day at 630AM they were only up to number 247 out of a studio that holds 325. You will have to guage when to get in line once you get there. We got in line at 1200Noon, yes really. It was worth it because we got to sit in the front row and we made great new friends! It was so much fun. We all plan to reunite in May for another taping. Another thing I wanted to add…it is an exciting and disappointing experience. It is exciting to be there and disappointing if you do not get called. It is important to know that it is okay to feel a little let down after the show…that feeling passes and the excitement takes over again at having such a great adventure. I’ll be happy to share any info on hotels, farmers market, open bathrooms, security, etc… Have a great adventure! Most people only talk about going to see the Price Is Right…you are all actually doing it! Good on ya and good luck:)
This blog is amazing. I just bought plane tickets to go to LA and I want to try to get on TPIR on either Mon May 21 or Tues May 22. I am about to send my request in. From reading the posts, I am not sure I will even get a reply. Any advice? Is there any way for me to get 2 tickets - either having someone in LA pick them up or if anyone has extras? I am desperate - this is my present to myself for finishing my PhD qualifications!! Thanks so much. Abby
I just looked at TPIR Website. There are on line tickets available for all tapings April 23 through April 26.
Thanks to everyone for the comments! I just got back from the April 2nd taping of TPIR, and my best friend got up there! Here’s my tips of getting in: Get there before 5:00 am for 1:15 taping! I’m serious! Make friends with the people around you and be enthusiastic the entire day…(they’re all watching you!) When it comes time for your interview, this is how it went for me. Producer: Hi, Rene, what do you do. Me: I’m an Engineer from Fort Worth. What I should have said: I’m an Engineer from Fort Worth, and I CAN’T WAIT TO SPIN THAT WHEEL!!!! (and then give all of the people in my interview group high fives.) I’m serious. Be enthusiastic.
Forgot to say, we met great people. Everyone there is doing the same thing. (We’re all basically crazy). We were in line with a couple of sisters from Kansas CIty, Emily and Carrie. They were so much fun, we had dinner with them after the taping. I thought for sure one of them would get picked. Both were such cute girls. Maybe we just aren’t the demographic. If you are 30 or 40, you are neither college age nor elderly!!
There was some screaming in line followed by much laughter. A couple of rats in the bushes. I was a bit weirded out by the thought of rats but the reality was, they leave you alone. Not much to worry about there. Lots of people around who are awake… Oh, there was a security guard who stayed in an SUV oevernight at the start of the line. Some comfort….when you choose to sleep on the street’s of LA!
We are in need of 4 tickets for the April 16th show; we planned this trip for 2 months and thought for sure we’d have tickets until we recieved the letter this week that all tickets have been distributed. If anyone can help that would be great; we’re traveling from Michigan, Delaware, and SC with one goal, to see Bob.
Please email me at mrgrossjr@yahoo.com.
Thanks for the help.
I was surprised when I got my tickets in the mail to find out that the April 16th taping for which I received the tickets is the $1,000,000 Spectacular to be shown on PRIME TIME!!! Even though it is on a Monday, the taping is at 2:30 and I am pretty sure it is the only taping of the day. What time have people who go on days with one taping been getting in line? I am thinking we will be out there all night since it is the $1,000,000 Spectacular (I love saying that!) Can part of the party wait in line and roatate out in shifts? There are 14 of us going.
yes you can rotate, but all members must be present at 6:00 am that is when they give out the first numbers.many people in line last week were keeping a space for two or even 4 people who were sleeping.
lori
Hi Wendy. That is so good to hear. When did you request for your tickets? I’ve requested for April 16th and 17th tapings sometime 1st week of March and they were kinda quick in telling me that there are no more tickets for that date.
Good luck!!! Be there very early on Sunday, check the line on Saturday if you are in the area.
Hey Meg, I requested the maximum 10 tickets by mail in December and I got 4. My friend requested 10 in February and got all 10. Do you live in the L.A. area? I think I will have one extra ticket and an extra t-shirtsince one of our group backed out recently.
Hi Wendy. Can you email me at gem_velasquez@yahoo.com? I would definitely get in touch with you. Thank you.
Hi Wendy. It’s me again. I’ll be flying from Chicago, and another friend of mine will be from east coast. I really appreciate your offer. Thank you.
Hello all, I am coming to L.A. April 29-May4. I am bringing my 73 yr. old grandma to Cali. she has never flown, would LOVE to see Bob, we sent in request 2 months ago, and still nothing. Can anyone help make grandmas dream come true? Like other people, we have our plane tickets, etc. but no ticket to the price!!!!!!Please help.randihugunin@yahoo.com
Great Blog guys — But I am so confused. I’m heading out there in late May with a few friends of mine. In the beginning of March, we sent a letter for tickets, and we received 4 of them on Saturday for a Wednesday show.
What are these tickets for? I can’t tell if they people that get in line at 5AM already have these tickets or not. Any clarification would be awesome
Hi everyone. I love the blog! Very helpful. I am bringing my family to LA for next week’s April 16 and 17 tapings. We requested tickets for all five of us but were only given four due to demand.
We are thrilled that it is the $1M Spectacular as my folks are huge fans of the show and have always wanted to go. I am desperate for one additional ticket on Monday, April 16.
Does anyone have just one extra ticket they’d be willing to part with? I will return the favor. Please email me at ben_n_smith@yahoo.com if so. Thanks so much!
This is to jt (#121). Are you retarded?
JT (#121) Lets put it this way,
The TV studio holds 325 people…. They give out WAY MORE tickets (like the ones you just reveived) than there are seats in the TV studio. This is because they want to make sure they have a FULL audience when they film so if they only gave out 325 tickets and 30 people didn’t show up (for example)then the audience wouldn’t be full. This way they cover their own butts by having to many people waiting inline the night before.
YOUR ANSWER….. YES!!! You still need to be in line early!! The ticket you have in you hand does not really mean a whole lot at this point…. but you DO need it to get you order of arrival number.
If you DIDN’T have a ticket, and waited in line all night anyway, when it came time to hand out the “order of arrival” numbers in the morning…. You would be asked to leave!!!
Read my previous post #88 for more info….
I may have 2 or 3 extra tickets for the April 23rd 1:15 taping.
Does anyone want to join my friends and I?????
If so, please contact me asap at Shalon559@gmail.com
Thanks
Is there a difference between a ticket you request via written request, and a ticket you get via online (printed)???? Is there a preference for one of the other?
Marie (#126):
There is absolutely no difference whatsoever. As long as you have one or the other, you are covered.
My daughter and I are going May 16th and I appreciate all the comments. If anyone wants to email me, feel free, esp someone who has been in that line! We are staying across the street from CBS. We were thinking about buying a couple of chairs somewhere closeby. jfheadrick@charter.net
jonnie,
ig you go down fairfax through the light you will find a thrift store we bought 2 chairs there and cbs was niice enogh to dispose of them for us.
they clean up the hole block.
also if you gothe other direction you will find a Kmart some people went there and bought lawn chairs
I have eight tickets (4 electronic, 4 paper) to the 4/17 nighttime special that I will trade for ONE ticket to the 4/16 taping.
If you can help, please contact me at ben_n_smith@yahoo.com. Thanks everyone and if you’re going, good luck!
Hi! I am leaving next Thursday for the Apr 23rd show. Can anyone update me on the line situation? We’re planning on gettin in line by 9pm the night before. Do you think that’s a safe time to get in???? Thanks so much!
Anyone have any extra tickets for the May 15th taping???? let me know!!
ok I need to leave my email address, it did not appear in last post!
ekb1979@hotmail.com
THANK YOU
Amanda…. If you’re in line by 9pm the night before you should be fine. From what I’ve heard, they’re not taking groups any longer so the first 325 people in line should have no problem getting into the show. The day I was there they only taped one show…. If they tape 2 shows the day you’re there it might be ok if you’re not in the first 325 because you might get into the second taping….. But I don’t know that for sure because I was only there for a single taping.
Either way…. If you’re there at 9pm I think you’ll be just fine!!!
Just wondering if anyone would have an extra 1 or 2 tickets for any show in May or June. It’s my life’s dream to get to the show. Please email me if you have any extra, I am willing to pay for them. Thanks everyone!

I would like to get 3 tickets for the Price is Right on April 23rd, anybody have any? Thanks!
So are they sending out tickets anymore for the may tapings?? I need 4 to the May 29,30,or 31. Just like many others it’s a dream for my friends and I to see Bob on the show before he retires. I would appreciate it more than you could ever believe. piszcze1@msu.edu Thanks. -Ryan
hi kelly. email me at gem_velasquez@yahoo.com.
I sent in for tickets last Tues. as advised by the gal on the phone at the ticket office. And viola.. today I received 3 tickets for next Tuesday’s taping (4/24). So it took one week. I would advise people who want tickets to supposedly sold out shows to write in for them. Especially if you live local. Apparently sometimes a large group cancels and they release those tickets. That’s what she told me anyway. And it worked. I’m super excited because it’s also my 35th birthday. I’ve been wanting to go to the show forever and now that Bob’s retiring, I couldn’t pass it up.
To answer a few questions, here’s what’s on the card they sent with the tickets:
Eligibility info:
*No one under 18 is permitted.
*You need two forms of ID.. a license and either your SS card or a paystub or some other official document w/your SS#. If you don’t have it, you will need to provide it within 30 days to receive any prizes. If you are not a US citizen, you may use your passport.
*You can not have been on TPIR previously.
*You can not have been on any other game show within the past year.
*And you have not been on any 2 games shows with in the past 10 years.
Sandy wrote…..*You can not have been on TPIR previously.
You can be in the audience if you’ve been on the TPIR, you just cant ever be called to contestants row ever again….. If you wanted to return to the show with friends for example.
Hello… Somebody asked for tickets to an Apr 23rd show… I have tickets to the 4:30 taping. We are unfortunately unable to attend, due to a death in the family. On that note, we are going to be rebooking our trip to LA. Does anyone have ANY tickets for a taping in May/June. I would be eternally grateful. PLEASE contact me if you do. I am hoping that by offering my Apr 23rd ticket for someone to enjoy, another will have extras to a MAY/JUNE taping they can spare me. I am not picky as far as the date. I am willing to book my trip around the tape date. THANK YOU so much. My email address is awaltz@therepublic.com Thanks again.
Does any have spare tickets between May 15 and May 17? My sister and I are both graduating college the week before, and I promised her that I would take her to PIR. The ticket office told me not to bother sending in requests for May/June because they were long gone. Thanks for anyone who can help!

Who needs (extra) tickets for April 27th (Tuesday) or May 3rd (Thursday)?
Email me at gem_velasquez@yahoo.com. I am not going to use them and I want to give these to people who will definitely be going on these dates.
Thanks.
Hi all,
I am going to LA to see a taping of TPIR on April 25th and I couldn’t be more excited! I was able to put a group of burn nurses together from the Vanderbilt Burn center so get ready! None of us have a lot of experience with LA and the surrounding areas and we will need a place to stay for two nights (although it sounds like we will not be using our rooms on the night before the taping…what with all the camping out and such) I was just wondering where to stay, one of us found a hotel in Hollywood at a Best Western but I’m not sure…aren’t there some areas to definately avoid in LA? Plus, I’ll need a safe place to park my BRAND NEW CAAAAAARRRR! ha ha ha
Hi Leah. Farmer’s Daughter Hotel is just across CBS studio. It’s like $200+/night.
Go to http://www.golden-road.net. You will see a lot of information about the show, going to the show and more. It helped me a lot. I was finally able to see TPIR and Bob Barker. My dream came true!!! :)
Hello TPIR fans, if you are planning a trip to the price is right The BEVERLY INN is around the corner from where the line starts and is across from the cbs studio on Beverly Blvd. I paid $78 a night for a room with two twin beds. Sunday night, Monday night, and Tuesday night in Febuary 2007. Granted it is not a 5 star hotel but it was just what we needed for our PRICE IS RIGHT TRIP. It is a 5 minute or less walk to the PRICE IS RIGHT LINE. hope this helps someone….
I only hope I will play the price is right.
Hey, is anyone going to TPIR on May 16th and 17th?!
Hi Everybody, I’m going to the April 25th show. I’m so excited….My sisters and I are going to spend the night starting at 8:30pm. I’m very thankful for this blog. My sister saw that the tickets say arrive at 6:30am and thats the time she wanted to be there by. We went through alot of trouble to get these tickets and hate to be rejected for not arriving earlier. I have a couple questions for for the lucky people that seen the Price is Right live. How long are you waiting on the mental benches? Can you bring any drink or food while you are waiting? I would also like to bring a pack of cards during the long wait. Did you see anyone else doing that? Thank you in advance for helping me.
May (post number 150)
Q) How long are you waiting on the mental benches?
A) Are they filming 1 or 2 shows that day??? When I was there, they only filmed 1 show and the filming began at 2:30pm so to answer your question…. Roughly 5 hours!! depending on what time they tell you to return after handing out the OOR numbers.
Q) Can you bring any drink or food while you are waiting?
A) I think so. If you are bringing a bag of some kind (purse) you could put something in there to eat or drink…. I DID see a few people eating some stuff they brought for themselves. Keep in mind they DO have a concession stand right there for the TPIR audience members…. They sell sandwiches, bags of chips, candy bars, soft drinks, water and maybe a few other types of drink. The prices aren’t bad but at least they have some stuff for people to eat while waiting and the sandwiches aren’t to bad either. They also have the CBS TPIR souvenir shop right there, you can shop through it while you’re waiting…. It’s pretty small though and bring plenty of money… I think TPIR shirts were somewhere in the 28 dollar range if I remember correctly.
Q) I would also like to bring a pack of cards during the long wait. Did you see anyone else doing that?
A) I don’t remember seeing anyone else doing that but I think it would be OK.
Hope this helps answer a few of your questions.
Have fun and good luck.
We brought UNO with us and played with some of our line neighbors.
Thank you so much for the details. Its a 2:30 show, and I was under the impression we couldn’t bring our purses with us, but that was just cameras and cell phones. For those that will be going to the Thursday showing, I’m the one that will be wearing a t-shirt with my dog and turtle. Hope to see you there and we get to spin the wheel.
HELP!! I NEED 2 TICKETS FOR MAY 15, 16 OR 17. I THOUGHT I GAVE CBS PLENTY OF TIME BUT I GUESS I’M TOO LATE BUT ALREADY HAVE MY PLANE TICKETS!! THANKS, SO MUCH IF YOU CAN HELP.SANDYJANKOVEC@YAHOO.COM
May,
Have fun and be ready to spin the wheel…. It’s really HEAVY. Use BOTH hands!!
Have fun and good luck.
Got to see the Million Dollar Spectacular taping last April 16th. It was an experience of a lifetime. It’s gonna be aired on May 16th at 7/8pm. It’s a nighttime special.
The best part for me was finally seeing BOB BARKER. He is awesome!!! Meeting so many people who are all loyal friends and true adds to the happiness I felt throughout this experience.
I am so happy that I went back to try watching the show again. The first time, I was not even able to get an order of arrival pass. This time, I got priority number 13. I got one of the best seats, 2nd row of the middle section. I sat beside a “VIP”.
I stayed at Guest House Inn. It’s along Beverly Blvd. and very close to CBS. The walk to the entrance gate along Fairfax Ave. is about 3-5 minutes.
The 2:30pm taping lasted for about 2 hrs. They say usually it’s just an hour.
If you dream of watching THE PRICE IS RIGHT, go for it!!! Bob Barker’s last taping date is June 6.
We were in line for 38 hours and 10 more hours from the time we got the OoAP til the end of taping. IT IS ALL WORTH IT!
I DESPERATELY need tickets for May 29 or 30!! I have a pair for May 15 I can trade, unfortunately my travel plans changed due to work. If anyone can help make my dream come true PLEASE email me!!
*email removed*
Thanks!
Will PAY $$$$$ for a copy of the price is right show that aired today 4/24/2007. My cousin was on it and I tried to tape it for her but failed miserably and now she is heart-broken. PLEASE HELP!!! Thank you.
We (eight of us) leave tomorrow for the 4/26 taping. Can’t wait to win!!!! Really, I just want at least one of us to get on - Any of us (but would really love it, if it was ME)
I have tickets for the taping on this Thursday (4/26 at 2:30 PM). Is there any chance of getting into the studio if we show up at around 6:30 or 7? It’s a 3 hour drive for us so I’m trying to figure out just how early we should leave.
Does anyone have extra tickets to the May 21st, 4:30 taping? We currently have 4 tickets but need 3 more. This trip is for my in-laws 50th Wedding Anniversary, her 70th Birthday, & his 75th Birthday. They have been talking about this special trip for the past couple of years and is a gift from their kids. We don’t want to let them down with 3 left behind! Their venture originates in Starkweather, ND!! (population 125!)

Hi All!
Just a little update for you. I went to the taping yesterday, Monday 4/24. I know people have been asking about when to line up, etc. Keep in mind I had tickets to the 1:15 taping on a Monday.
We arrived at 2:30 pm on Sunday. There were already people in line, so we bought our chairs and snacks at Kmart and got in line at 3pm. (The first person got in line at noon) It rained and was very cold for the end of April. It made it somewhat of a miserable night, but meeting people in line was more than worth it.
By the time security went down the line at 11:30 pm he stated there were 169 people in line.
The OOA passes were handed out at approximately 6:15am. I had OOA pass number 30. We were told that people for both tapings had to return by 7:30. We rushed back to our hotel, checked out, loaded up our cars and headed back.
We were then given our priority number and told to return at 9am, I went from number 30 to number 20. We went across the street and bought the famous over priced bagels. Hint - one sesame seed bagel with butter toasted and a snapple was $7.50!!!!!!
We returned and the wait begins. They check your ID and social security number, write your name tag and you wait to be interviewed by the production staff. Once interviewed you turn the corner around the other side of the studio and wait to get in. I believe we were let in at approximatley 12:45 for the 1:15 taping.
My impressions are the same as everyone elses. The studio is FREEZING COLD and the stage is SMALL. My high school auditorium was bigger than the stage.
As far as some recent questions, yes you can have food and drink up until the time you actually enter the studio. There are only a couple of times where you can leave the line to go to the restroom so make sure you go when they tell you to.
After camping out in the rain for 22 hours and freezing my butt off with only 45 minutes sleep all night, I must say I would do it again AFTER BOB RETIRES. He answers questions between resets of the stage, and was pretty witty! However the excitement of the show and the culmination of a 22 hour wait was totally fun.
If you go, enjoy! And if you have any questions, please email me and I will be happy to answer the best I can.

My husband went to the April 24 taping that was at 2:30. We arrived just after 6am that day and was 255th in line. We waited in line for a long time then sat on cold metal bench’s and paid a lot of money for crap food in the concession store. Also there isn’t much room in the run and when we tried to go around the main area to sit on a wall in the sun the security guard about beat us. There is a very designated area that you can stay in after 8am. Finally at about 1:45 we went with about a dozen other people for the inteview.
Let me tell you they’re aren’t looking for certain people (race, gender, what they do, what they look like, what creative t-shirt that have on etc) they’re looking for someone who can really show a great personality in the span of 20 seconds.
My husband managed to impress the producer and was one of the first 4 contestants told to come on down. He then went on to win his prize on stage and then $11,000 on the big wheel!!!! He lost the showcase.
Even if he hadn’t won anything its worth the wait! Its worth every cold uncomfertable moment. The show airs May 10th so look for Richard!!
Quick question…if you request tickets via mail and there are no more left, do you get a “no tickets available” letter or are you just left wondering until your date passes by? If you do get the tickets, how much in advance do you receive them? Thanks.
To Pebbles - If there are no more tickets left you will get a letter saying so. Tickets are mailed at least 2 weeks before the taping. I think I remember reading that they’re mailed 2-4 weeks before.
I went to the taping today. We arrived at 5:30 and I was #252 when I received my OOA pass, and when we got our priority numbers I was #251.
They actually ended up letting in all 37 people who were on the waiting list, so if you get there a little too late then don’t give up hope! It seemed like a lot of people left figuring they had no chance of getting in, but if they had just waited they probably could have gotten a spot.
And like everyone else has said, it is definitely worth the long wait! I would definitely do it again.
Congrats, Kelly! I remember your husband in line as I was guiding you all to go around to the metal detectors. I had a feeling he would be called. I am always good at guessing. Did you by any chance hear my singing, or were you too far in the back to hear it? I remember I sang to the audience by the gift shop, but spent more time with the audiece who was at the interview section.
Desperate for 2 tickets any time after May 15th. My requests from March were all declined. Dual graduation/engagement present hinges on acquiring some tickets. Please help! Willing to pay/barter/beg. Email me at tjqiv@hotmail.com
Here’s a potential tip for those of you who have some tickets but are looking for more. If you got them online, just make 2 copies of the email ticket confirmation. When we were checked in they don’t even really look at it, let along check them off, so you could get multiple people in with the same printout - someone correct me if I am wrong
To the CBS guy who sang the song!
Yes we heard bits and pieces of your song and it was great, you should do it on the loud speaker so everyone can hear you! Keep me posted and let me know if anyone else gets $11,000 before Bob retires. How cool would it be if he was the last!
Kelly
I sent away for June 4th tickets in Febuary and haven’t seen them yet in mail!!!
When will they come?
What time should we wait in line?
I went to the Price is Right courtesy of a girl named Meg. It was awesome. I had asked if anyone had any tickets and she had tickets that she would not be using. I say “thanks to Meg” this was one of the best things I have ever did for vacation. We had the best time and being there watching everythin
